Jude also performed a pilot study in which 10 patients with AML in first complete remission (CR) not receiving HSCT (4 low risk, 6 intermediate risk) underwent haplo NK cell
adoptive transfer after conditioning with cyclophosphamide and fludarabine [47].
To test this assumption, we performed
adoptive transfers of effector [CD4.sup.+]CD62L T cells together with [CD11b.sup.+] bone marrow cells from HDC deficient or WT mice to NOD [RAG.sup.-/-]- recipients, which did not alter diabetes onset (Figure 2(d)), ruling out the increase of IMCs as a cause for diabetes progression.
To determine whether AhR activation during development changes [CD4.sup.+] T cells in an intrinsic or extrinsic fashion, we performed reciprocal
adoptive transfer experiments.
HA-Vac (107 PFU) was delivered intraperitoneally (i.p.) in 0.1 mL HBSS as described [20] on day 15 after the
adoptive transfer.
Even though 100% of our control NOD/scid mice developed diabetes with the mean onset of 6.5 weeks after
adoptive transfer [12], in contrast, those treated with ATRA and ATRA plus exendin-4 developed diabetes with the mean onset of 8.0 and 11.2 weeks, respectively.
Adoptive transfer of Tregs reduces cardiac hypertrophy, inflammation, and fibrosis [28, 29], prevents Ang II-induced hypertension and vascular injury [15], and improves coronary arteriolar endothelial dysfunction in Ang II-hypertensive mice [30].
Induction of Tolerance by
Adoptive Transfer of Treg Cells.
We conclude that accumulation is most likely due to pro longed cell survival, because
adoptive transfer experiments demonstrated that C-Med 100 [R] treatment significantly prolonged lymphocyte survival in peripheral lymphoid organs, without increasing their proliferation rate.
A novel two-step process called
adoptive transfer resulted in more than 50% tumor shrinkage in 6 of 13 patients with malignant melanoma, said Dr.
Adoptive transfer of splenic lymphocytes from immunized animals protected suckling mice against murine rotavirus-induced gastroenteritis in the absence of rotavirus-specific neutralizing antibodies, indicating that antigen-specific CTLs protect against mucosal pathogens in the intestinal tract (32).
