Active Compression-Decompression-[br]Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Active Compression-Decompression-[br]Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
A novel method for CPR in which the passive relaxation phase of respiration is converted into an active phase by a hand-held suction device—Ambu CardioPump. Preliminary data had suggested that ACD-CPR improved the rate of initial resuscitation, survival at 24 hours, and neurologic outcome after in-hospital cardiac arrest. A later randomised trial with a crossover design showed no difference in the parameters of survival and health states between ACD-CPR and standard CPR.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
