Acanthopterygii
a group of TELEOST fishes having rigid spines supporting the fins. They occur in both the sea (for example, plaice) and fresh water (for example, perch); the majority of saltwater bony fish are included in this group.Collins Dictionary of Biology, 3rd ed. © W. G.
