ARF protein

Any of a family of small G proteins involved in vesicle trafficking, so named for their ability to support ADP-ribosylation of the trimeric G protein, Gs, which is an allosteric activator of the cholera toxin catalytic subunit, an ADP-ribosyltransferase involved in protein trafficking. ARFs act by vesicle budding from Golgi cisternae and other membrane compartments, and mediate GTP-dependent stimulation of phospholipase D.
