ADAMTSbc12

An ADAMTSs family enzyme encoded by ADAMTS12 on chromosome 5q35, which is structurally similar to ADAMTS7. ADAMTS12 is expressed almost exclusively in the fetus, where it may play a role in lung development. It is expressed in gastric carcinomas but not in adjacent normal tissue. ADAMTS12 cleaves alpha-2 macroglobulin and aggregan, is involved in cell adhesion and has anti-tumourigenic properties.
