ADAM1aba1

ADAM1aba1

A developmentally-regulated, integrin-binding, membrane-bound ADAMs family protein encoded by a pseudogene ADAM1, on C12q24.1, which is found on sperm and is involved in sperm-egg fusion. Two different isoforms, ADAM1a and ADAM1b, are found in mice. Male mice not expressing ADAM1a are sterile; their sperm cannot migrate from the uterus into the oviduct and do not bind to the ovum’s zona pellucida.
