Yentl Syndrome

The need for a woman to prove she is equal to a man before she will receive equal treatment. The term morphed in medicine and refers to the need to prove that a female population has the same or similar risk factors as a male population before women will receive equal medical treatment for a particular condition

Yentl 'syndrome'

Epidemiology A phenomenon in which once a ♀ shows herself to be equal to a ♂–in terms of risk factors, she receives equal medical treatment. See Women and disease, Women's Health Initiative.
