Yellow Jacket Venom A substance produced by hymenopteran insects—e.g., bees, wasps, and ants—which may be fatal via an anaphylactic reaction with release of vasoactive substances—leukotrienes, ECF-A, histamine—causing generalised urticaria, throat and chest tightness, stridor, fever, chills and cardiovascular collapse; toxic overload of hymenopteran venom may also be fatal to victims of 'swarmings'
