Now, word processors have come a long way already since 20 years ago.
While most of those word processors only have basic functionality, professional desktop publishing applications usually have specific features, commands and functionality that are catered especially for specific print mediums like booklets.
It does have some limitations compared with traditional word processors particularly in terms of storage, but this won't be an issue for most users.
