1. the fluid secretion of the mammary gland forming the natural food of young mammals.
2. any whitish milklike substance, e.g., coconut milk or plant latex.
3. a liquid (emulsion or suspension) resembling the secretion of the mammary gland.

milk of magnesia  a suspension of magnesium hydroxide, used as an antacid and laxative.
modified milk  cow's milk made to correspond to the composition of human milk.
soy milk  a liquid made from soybeans, used as a milk substitute and a source of calcium.
vitamin D milk  cow's milk supplemented with 400 IU of vitamin D per quart.
witch's milk  milk secreted in the breast of the newborn infant.

witch's milk (wchz)
n.
Milk resembling colostrum sometimes secreted from the breasts of newborns of either sex three to four days after birth and lasting no longer than two weeks, due to endocrine stimulation from the mother before birth.

witch's milk,
a milklike substance secreted from the breast of the newborn, caused by circulating maternal lactating hormone. Also called hexenmilch.

witch's milk
colloquial expression for milk secreted by newborn animals.

witch's milk
Pediatrics A clear-to-lactescent discharge from the nipples of ♂ and ♀ neonates, which is accompanied by breast hypertrophy, and caused by transplacental hormonal effects; it is most common in term infants. Cf Breast milk, Certified milk, Maternal milk, Raw milk, Unpasteurized milk.
