the interpretation of facts or situations according to one's desires or wishes rather than as they exist in reality, usually used as an unconscious device to avoid painful or unpleasant feelings.

It is not any more to my liking than anyone else, but I think that we need cool analysis rather than wishful thinking and easy solutions.
