biotelemetry /bio·te·lem·e·try/ (bi″o-tĕ-lem´ĕ-tre) the recording and measuring of certain vital phenomena of living organisms that are situated at a distance from the measuring device.
biotelemetry [-təlem′ətrē] the transmission of physiologic data, such as electrocardiographic (ECG) and electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings, heart rate, and body temperature by radio or telephone systems. Transmission of such data uses sophisticated electronic devices developed for the study of the effects of space travel on animals and humans; it has progressed to the use of communication satellites for relaying such data from one part of the world to another. biotelemetry [bi″o-tel-em´ĕ-tre] the use of telemetry to record and measure certain vital phenomena occurring in living organisms.
