A seasonal fluctuation in the annual rotavirus epidemic in North America, which reaches a maximum in Mexico and the Southwestern US in late fall; midwestern US peaks in mid-winter; eastern US and Canada peak in early spring. A similar west-to-east wave has been reported for influenza in older adults with the peak incidence in Los Angeles occurring in December and in New York City in February
