toe (to) a digit of the foot.
claw toe  dorsal subluxation of toes 2 through 5, the metatarsal heads bearing weight and becoming painful when walking, resulting in a shuffling gait; occurring in rheumatoid arthritis.
hammer toe  deformity of a toe, most often the second, in which the proximal phalanx is extended and the second and distal phalanges are flexed, giving a clawlike appearance.
Morton's toe  see under neuralgia.
pigeon toe  permanent toeing-in position of the feet.
tennis toe  painful great toe associated with subungual hematoma; so called because it develops usually after vigorous tennis playing.
webbed toes  syndactyly of the toes.
