A central canal and the concentric osseous lamellae encircling it, occurring in compact bone. Also called haversian system.

the basic central structural unit of compact bone, consisting of the haversian canal and its concentric rings of 4 to 20 lamellae. Most of the units run with the long axis of the bone. Also called haversian system.
