Vespidae Wasps–Chlorion ichneumonidae, hornets–Vespula maculata, yellowjackets–V maculiformis–are less often assocated with allergic reactions than Apidae

He investigates how social behavior evolved in wasps of the family Vespidae, comparing them to other taxonomic groups.
To investigate, Ratnieks and Tom Wenseleers of the University of Leuven in Belgium collected police records from honeybees and nine Vespidae wasp species.
5) Yellow jackets, wasps, and hornets all belong to the Vespidae family (vespids); honeybees and bumblebees belong to the Apidae family (apids); and stinging ants belong to the Formicidae family (formicids).
