autotransformer,
n a transformer with a single winding, having a large number of connections, or taps. Used to deliver a precise voltage to the high-tension primary circuit.

autotransformer
a supplementary transformer with insulated primary and secondary windings on one core in a radiographical unit. It corrects fluctuations in the mains input voltage.
