Vacco v Quill

    0.01 sec.
Vacco v Quill
A landmark New York State case that challenged the state’s ban on physician-assisted suicide. The ban permitted patients to refuse lifesaving treatment on their own, but made it a crime for doctors to help patients commit suicide, even if they were terminally ill or in great pain. The District Court ruling favoured the State of New York in 'part 1' of the case. The Second Circuit reversed in Quill v Vacco. The case then got bumped to the US Supreme Court which granted New York certiorari—i.e., the high court reversed the reversal
