Obstetrics A fetal heart rate response to uterine contractions that is symmetrical and has a uniform temporal relationship therewith Early deceleration Type I Dip Due to vagal stimulation elicited in the 1st stage of labor by fetal head compression and Late deceleration Type II Dip Due to uteroplacental insufficiency, potentially associated with a less favorable outcome and may signal early vasomotor lability.
