Tunga /Tun·ga/ (tun´gah) a genus of fleas, including T. pe´netrans, the chigoe (q.v.).
Tunga [tun´gah]
a genus of fleas native to tropical and subtropical America and Africa. T. pe´netrans is the chigoe, which attacks many birds and mammals, including humans.

Tunga penetrans
the chigoe or jigger flea, which attacks humans, dogs, pigs and other animals, as well as poultry, and causes intense skin irritation. See also chigoe.
