Tubby Protein

An upstream cell signalling protein common to multicellular eukaryotes which is implicated in mature-onset obesity. It appears to be a transcription factor and possibly also a G-protein-coupled signalling factor. Tubby proteins are involved in neuronal differentiation and development, and when mutated in mammals are linked to obesity, retinal degeneration, and hearing loss
