Any of a class of drugs that act as agonists of serotonin, result in cranial vasoconstriction, and are used for the prophylaxis and treatment of migraine headaches.

Ergots work in the same way that triptans do but the only difference is that they block the receptors around the body, not just in the brain.
It is not good to take if you have taken other triptans or ergotamine within 24 hours.
