Trichostrongylus /Tricho·stron·gy·lus/ (-stron´jĭ-lus) a genus of nematodes parasitic in animals and humans.
Trichostrongylus [trik′ōstron′jiləs] Etymology: Gk, thrix + strongylos a genus of roundworm, some species of which are parasitic to humans, such as T. orientalis. See also trichostrongyliasis. Trichostrongylus [trik″o-stron´jĭ-lus] a genus of nematode parasites found in the intestines of humans and other animals; see trichostrongyliasis.
Trichostrongylus a genus of nematode parasites belonging to the family Trichostrongylidae, which infects animals and humans. Trichostrongylus affinis found in the small intestine of rabbits, occasionally in sheep. Trichostrongylus axei found in the abomasum of cattle, sheep, goats, deer, antelope and in the stomach of pigs, horses, donkeys and rarely humans. Trichostrongylus capricola found in the small intestine of sheep and goats. Trichostrongylus colubriformis found in the small intestine, sometimes abomasum also, in cattle, sheep, goat, antelope, camel. Also recorded in pig, human, dog and rabbit. Trichostrongylus drepanoformis found in the small intestine of sheep. Trichostrongylus falculatus found in the small intestine of sheep, goat and antelopes. Trichostrongylus hamatus found in the intestine of sheep and steinbok. Trichostrongylus longispicularis found in sheep and cattle. Trichostrongylus orientalis found in the small intestine of humans and rarely sheep. Trichostrongylus probolurus found in the small intestine of sheep, goats, camels and rarely humans. Trichostrongylus retortaeformis found in the small intestines of rabbits, hares. Trichostrongylus rugatus found in the small intestines of sheep and goats. Trichostrongylus skrjabini found in sheep, moufflon, roe deer. Trichostrongylus tenuis found in the small intestine and ceca of domestic and wild birds.
