Etymology: Gk, thrix + strongylos
a genus of roundworm, some species of which are parasitic to humans, such as T. orientalis. See also trichostrongyliasis.

a genus of nematode parasites found in the intestines of humans and other animals; see trichostrongyliasis.

Trichostrongylus
a genus of nematode parasites belonging to the family Trichostrongylidae, which infects animals and humans.

found in the small intestine of rabbits, occasionally in sheep.
Trichostrongylus axei
found in the abomasum of cattle, sheep, goats, deer, antelope and in the stomach of pigs, horses, donkeys and rarely humans.

found in the small intestine of sheep and goats.
Trichostrongylus colubriformis
found in the small intestine, sometimes abomasum also, in cattle, sheep, goat, antelope, camel. Also recorded in pig, human, dog and rabbit.

found in sheep, moufflon, roe deer.

found in the small intestine and ceca of domestic and wild birds.

found in the small intestine of sheep, goats, deer, and occasionally in pigs, rabbits, camels and humans.
