Surgical removal of the prostate gland or bladder lesions by means of an endoscope inserted through the urethra, usually for the relief of prostatic obstruction or for treatment of bladder malignancies.

Transurethral resection
A surgical procedure to remove abnormal tissue from the bladder. The technique involves the insertion of an instrument called a cytoscope into the bladder through the urethra, and the tumor is removed through it.
