micropenis /mi·cro·pe·nis/ (-pe´nis) abnormal smallness of the penis.
micropenis. See microphallus. Micropenis Defined by statistics as a penis that is 2.5 standard deviations below the average penis length for the age of the individual. A micropenis for a newborn male is 1.9 cm or less, and for an adult, 7 cm or less
Aetiology Idiopathic, a common finding in obese infants and boys or may be related to decreased hormonal axis activity, as in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism—Kallmann syndrome—Prader-Willi syndrome, Rud syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, primary hypogonadism or Klinefelter’s disease, partial androgen insufficiency. Micropenis may be a component of various congenital—e.g., Carpenter, Cornelia de Lange, Down, Fanconi, Hallermann-Streiff, 18q deletion, Noonan, Robinow, Williams—syndromes, hypopituitarism, X-linked hypogammaglobulinemia micropenis Microphallus, penile agenesis, wee wee-wee Urology A small penis; a normal infantile penis measures 3.9 cm ± 0.8 when stretched; micropenis may be idiopathic, a common finding in obese infants and boys or may be related to
