ther·mo·cou·ple (thûrm-kpl)
n.
A thermoelectric device used to measure temperatures accurately, especially one consisting of two dissimilar metals joined so that a potential difference generated between the points of contact is a measure of the temperature difference between the points.

thermocouple
[thur′məkup′əl]
Etymology: Gk, thermē + Fr, couple, pair
a temperature-measuring device that relies on the production of a temperature-dependent voltage at the junction of two dissimilar metals.

thermocouple [ther´mo-kup″'l]
a pair of dissimilar electric conductors so joined that with the application of heat an electromotive force is established; used for measuring small temperature differences.

thermocouple,
n the joining of two dissimilar metals. The unequal thermal expansion of the two metals is used to indicate temperature changes.

thermocouple
a pair of dissimilar electric conductors so joined that with the application of heat an electromotive force is established; used for measuring small temperature differences.

Sheathed thermocouples are used in a wide range of temperature sensing applications, including process manufacturing, petrochemicals, oil and gas, medical, academic institutions, semiconductor manufacturing, automotive R&D, aerospace and defence.
Thermocouples in all ANSI calibrations (J, K, T, E types) in grounded/ungrounded and exposed junctions available in various probe configurations, using stainless steel and Inconel sheath materials.
Thermocouples are among the most simple temperature sensors for industrial applications.
