More than 30 new international standards, codes of practice and guidelines to improve worldwide food safety and protect consumer health were released in July by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization in 1953 established the Codex Alimentarius Commission to develop food standards, guidelines and related texts such as codes of practice under the Joint FAO/WHO Food Standards Program.
