A malleable metallic element used to coat other metals to prevent corrosion. Atomic number 50.

Etymology: AS
a whitish metallic element. Its atomic number is 50; its atomic mass is 118.69. Tin (IV) oxide is used in dentistry as a polishing agent for teeth and in some restorative procedures. See also stannous fluoride.
