tapir
an odd-toed ungulate in the family Tapiridae, with four digits on the forelimbs and three on each of the hindlimbs. It has a short mobile trunk and simple, lophodont molars. It resembles a very large pig, has short woolly, dark brown fur, is 3 ft high and 6 ft long, nocturnal, shy and herbivorous. Called also Tapir spp.
