Y-shaped fracture Orthopedics A type of intercondylar fracture of the distal femur that occurs in falls from a height with the feet extended, resulting in a violent impact of the femur on the tibial plateau; fall-related fractures also occur as the distal tibia impacts on the ankle or as an intercondylar fracture to the distal humerus.
