Cynanchum

South African genus of plants in the family Asclepiadaceae; contains an alkaloid cynanchoside which causes incoordination, tremor, paralysis. Includes C. africanum, C. ellipticum, C. obtusifolium. Called also monkey rope, klimp, bobbejantou.
