1. The upper, smaller of the two ganglia on the glossopharyngeal nerve as it traverses the jugular foramen. Also called superior ganglion of glossopharyngeal nerve.
2. A small sensory ganglion on the vagus nerve as it traverses the jugular foramen. Also called superior ganglion of vagus.
