mean (mēn) an average; a numerical value that in some sense represents the central value of a set of numbers.
arithmetic mean  the sum of n numbers divided by n.
geometric mean  the n th root of the product of n numbers.

The value obtained by calculating the sum of a set of quantities and then dividing that sum by the number of quantities in the set. Also called average.
