Q. Is there a chance for the urine test at the doctor's office to go wrong? Four times I have experienced home pregnancy tests. They all came positive to my delight. Once I had a urine test in a clinic it came negative. I was told at the clinic by a nurse that the home pregnancy test may go wrong. I am completely confused. Is there a chance for the urine test at the doctor's office to go wrong?

A. Lesa, the home pregnancy test is just a device to help knowing whether a woman is pregnant or not, but I will say that is never 100% accurate, maybe it is 99,something% accurate. but there's always slight chance for that to be wrong. repeated test will confirm the prior test.

sometimes when you're happened to check the pregnancy with 'poor-pregnancy-test-device' you can have your result mistaken. if you want to be sure, check it in your doctor's office, and discuss that with your doctor. and one more thing, yes it's true the later you're having late period the higher the probability you're having positive result. so, don't get confused, okay?

Q. I have developed a low back pain from some heavy lifting over the weekend. What tests in the doctor's office can I expect to confirm this. And what should the treatment be. I suspect a sacriliac strain.

A. I doubt the doctor will order tests, but he/she will examine your back and you muscle and joint movement. If he/she thinks there is something wrong they might have you do a spine x-ray, to see there is no harm caused to your spine. The treatment is rest, no heavy lifting and some gentle exercises such as walking, swimming and streching. You can also put pain relief creams or anti-inflammatory creams.

Q. I am upset by the lack of privacy at dialysis centers. Does anyone see their nephrologist in private office? My nephrologist comes to see me and examine me while I am receiving dialysis. I understand his talking to me but the exam is objectionable and I am unable to ask personal questions because everyone is listening. I am told they are all old and don't hear us but that is patronizing and extremely rude. Are there rules against this? Why can't we have office visits where there is some privacy?

A. I live in Sault Ste Marie Ontario Canada and if you need to ask personal questions you can make an appointment to see your doctor in the clinic.
But when I was in Calgary Alberta they would make you a appointment every 3 months to see the doctor.
