Squash It!
(redirected from Squash It)

    0.01 sec.
Squash It!
A phrase coined at the Harvard School of Public Health through the social marketing efforts of Jay Winsten. The initiative was begun in 1994 and was partially integrated into African-American street culture, verbalising that it was socially acceptable to back down from violence or a fight and defuse a volatile situation. It hasn’t gained as much traction as hoped; the mortality of young black males continues to be much higher than that of young white males

'Squash It!'
Public health A phrase integrated into  street culture, which verbalizes an increasingly popular concept–ie, that it is socially acceptable to back down from violence or a fight and defuse a volatile situation. Cf Drive-by shooting, Saturday night special.
