Spurling test

Spurling test

(spŭr'ling),
evaluation for cervical nerve root impingement in which the patient extends the neck and rotates and laterally bends the head toward the symptomatic side; an axial compression force is then applied by the examiner through the top of the patient's head; the test is considered positive when the maneuver elicits the typical radicular arm pain.

Spurling maneuver

, Spurling test (spŭrl′ing)
Extending the patient's neck, moving the head to the affected side, and applying an axial load to the cervical spine to determine if symptoms of paresthesia or pain intensify. The maneuver is used in the physical assessment of patients with possible cervical nerve root compression. This test is not performed until the possibility of a cervical spine fracture or dislocation has been ruled out.

However, they used clinical prediction rules such as the Spurling test, the distraction test and the upper limb tension test to select patients.
In particolare, durante la visita fisiatrica, i pazienti dovevano manifestare sintomatologia positiva allo Spurling Test e all'Upper Limb Neurodynamic Test 1 (ULNT1).
The Spurling Test was still positive, however, and passive flexion still elicited right-sided facet pain in the neck.
Neurologic and orthopedic examinations, including the result of the Spurling Test, were normal.
The Spurling test is useful to confirm cervical disc prolapse as the cause.
There was a positive Spurling test, reproducing neck pain in extension and extension with left sidebending.
She had a positive Spurling test with extension and right sidebending, a negative VBAT, and a fair craniocervical flexion test (Fig.
A Spurling test is a physical exam maneuver that compresses the neck in order to evaluate the possibility of nerve root involvement.
This paper will focus on shoulder and neck diagnoses and findings, including impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tendonitis, range of motion abnormalities, scapular winging, superior trapezius pain and trigger points, and findings for the Adson's, Roos, and Spurling tests.
