sexsomnia

Sexual arousal, sexual intercouse or masturbation occurring during genuine sleep. Intercourse is commonest with established partners but may occur with others, and the principal trigger is probably bodily contact, especially with fondling. Other triggers include stress, sleep deprivation, fatigue, alcohol and drug use.

But this is not the first time the bizarre condition has reared its ugly head in rape cases: u IN 2005, a Toronto court acquitted a man of sexual assault after he was diagnosed with sleep sex disorder, although prosecutors filed an appeal of the acquittal in February 2006.

I ask this because sleep sex is a term coined by US scientists to describe a phenomenon which can cause people to commit sexual acts on themselves or their partners while asleep.
