There is insufficient reliable evidence regarding its effectiveness. contraindications Skullcap should not be used during pregnancy and lactation, in children, or in those with known hypersensitivity to this plant. skullcap, n Latin names: Scutellaria laterifolia, Scutellaria baicalensis; parts used: leaves, roots; uses: anti-inflammatory, sleep disorders, seizure disorders, spastic disorders, high cholesterol; possible uses as antiviral, anticancer (lung cancer), strokes, embolism; precautions: pregnancy, lactation, children, patients on immunosuppressant medications; may cause hepatotoxicity.
