Sister Kenny's treatment Etymology: Elizabeth Kenny, Australian nurse, 1886-1952 poliomyelitis therapy in which the patient's limbs and back are wrapped in warm, moist woolen cloths and, after the pain subsides, the patient is taught to exercise affected muscles, especially by swimming.
