silicone /sil·i·cone/ (sil´i-kon) any of a large group of organic compounds comprising alternating silicon and oxygen atoms linked to organic radicals, particularly methyl groups; uses have included wetting agents and surfactants, sealants, coolants, contact lenses, and surgical membranes and implants.
