Q. What Are the Signs of Depression? I have a friend who's been very sad lately and I think she is suffering from serious depression. What are signs of depression?

A. Clinical depression can present with a variety of symptoms, but almost all patients display a marked change in mood, a deep feeling of sadness, and a noticeable loss of interest or pleasure in favorite activities.Other symptoms include: loss of appetite and/or weight loss or conversely overeating and weight gain, insomnia, early morning awakening, or oversleeping, restlessness or irritability, difficulty thinking, concentrating, remembering or making decisions, withdrawal from social situations, family and friends and thoughts of death or suicide. These are "red flags" that should be regarded to.

Q. What Are The Signs of Dehydration? How can you tell if someone is dehydrated? Are there specific signs or symptoms that may help notice?

A. Dehydration symptoms generally become noticeable after 2% of one's normal water volume has been lost. Initially, one experiences thirst and discomfort, possibly along with loss of appetite and dry skin.
Other early signs of dehydration include headaches, dizziness and fatigue, decreased urine volume, lack of tears when crying and a dry mouth. Moderate to severe dehydration can cause fainting to due decreased blood flow, rapid heart rate and flushing. The symptoms become increasingly severe with greater water loss, and can lead to lethargy and extreme sleepiness. These situations require adequate medical care with fluids.

Q. what do you do when he signs of depression and anxiety worsen despite meds all of the sudden the meds dont seem to be working. my wife is super irritable nd does not want to do anything but sleep. It was getting better but now i see her slipping bac to the manic ways. It scares the hell out of me. Are her symptoms normal. If not what do we do?

A. this is a serious matter that should be dealt by her therapist. if her meds does not work - there are several other line of treatments that should be considered. but i think you should consider contacting her therapist...
