n.
A thin, two-part membrane that secretes a serous fluid and lines a closed body cavity, covering the organs that lie within that cavity. Also called serosa, serous tunic.

serous membrane,
n a thin sheet of tissue that lines closed cavities of the body, such as the pleura lining the thoracic cavity and the pericardium lining the sac enclosing the heart.
