A conceptual model of nursing, also known as the Self-Care Deficit Theory of Nursing and the Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory, developed by Dorothea Orem. The person is a self-care agent who has a therapeutic self-care demand made up of universal, developmental, and health deviation self-care requisites. The goal of nursing is to help people to meet their therapeutic self-care demands.
