Schwabach test [shvah´bahk]
a tuning fork test made, with the opposite ear masked, placing the stems of vibrating forks on the mastoid process first of the patient and then of the examiner. If heard longer by the patient it indicates that he or she has conductive hearing loss and if heard longer by the examiner it indicates that the patient has sensorineural hearing loss.
