saralasin /sar·al·a·sin/ (sar-al´ah-sin) an angiotensin II antagonist, used in the form of the acetate ester as an antihypertensive in the treatment of severe hypertension and in the diagnosis of renin-dependent hypertension.
saralasin,
a competitive antagonist of angiotensin. It is administered by IV injection to assess the role of the renin-angiotensin system in the maintenance of blood pressure. A decrease in blood pressure is expected in renin-dependent hypertension.
