ST14

A gene on chromosome 11q24-q25 that encodes matriptase, a type-II transmembrane serine protease which degrades extracellular matrix and is thought to play a role in breast cancer invasion and metastasis.

Molecular pathology
Defects in ST14 cause ichthyosis with hypotrichosis, autosomal recessive.

They also found that ST14 inhibits both cell growth and cell invasion, suggesting that ST14 is a breast cancer tumour suppressor gene and that it may also serve as a marker for the early detection of breast cancer.
We are in the process of confirming these results and these studies will reveal whether ST14 can reduce breast tumour growth in animals.

pneumoniae KLZA as an ST25 strain, which significantly differs from the ST14 type found in the index NDM-1-producing strain and from other isolates originating from India (1) and then in other countries.

pneumoniae GN529 was typed by MLST as ST147, the same type as a clinical NDM-1-producing strain isolated in Australia (6) but distinct from ST14 and ST16 strains described (1,7).

pneumoniae that harbored NDM-1 was ST14, unrelated to ST16 (3).
The first one included 26 isolates, which represented 7 different STs (ST11, ST12, ST13, ST14, ST15, ST24, and ST27).
ST8 (putative ancestral genotype), ST9, ST10, ST26, and ST28 were included in the second group; ST11, ST12 (putative ancestral genotype), ST13, ST14, ST15, and ST24 in the third group, ST16 and ST17 in the fourth group; and ST18 (putative ancestral genotype), ST22, ST23, ST25, and ST29 in the fifth group.
