A gene on chromosome 20q12 that encodes a magnesium-dependent phosphatidate phosphatase, which converts phosphatidic acid to diacylglycerol during triglyceride, phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine synthesis in the endoplasmic reticulum.
