n rotation of the occipital and sphenoid bones in opposing directions about parallel vertical axes combined with rotation in the same direction about an anteroposterior axis. May either be left- or right side-bending/rotation, depending on the position of the convexity. Also called sphenobasilar synchondrosis (symphysis) side-bending/rotation.
