n.
A benzodiazepine drug that is illegal in the US but is used elsewhere as a hypnotic and in anesthesia. It is popularly known as the "date rape drug" because its ability to cause semiconciousness and memory blackouts has led to its association with unwanted sexual encounters.

Rohypnol
A benzodiazepine that is ± 10-fold more potent than Valium Route of administration Oral, pulverised/snorted
Effects Slurred speech, impaired judgement, difficulty walking, sedation, blackouts of up to 24 hours, amnesia, respiratory distress; may have paradoxic effects and trigger aggression. Overdose or death can occur if mixed with other drugs or alcohol.
It is popularly known as the ‘date-rape’ drug.
