[FIGURE 2 OMITTED] Two current rotavirus vaccines, Rotarix (GSK Biologicals, Rixensart, Belgium) and RotaTeq (Merck & Co.
The study said the changes in rotavirus activity may be due to the RotaTeq vaccine introduced in 2006 and recommended for routine immunization of infants at 2, 4 and 6 months of age.
Still, federal health officials continue to monitor RotaTeq and would do the same for Rotarix, assuming it is approved, The Journal reported.
